I did a hard dive into the book King Leopold's Ghost and it is full of BS. The figure of 10 to 15 million dead Congolese presumes a population larger than that which existed in the Congo when the Belgians arrived (aka there weren't even that many people in total in the Congo in the mid to late 1800s).

By the 1950s, the Belgians had established:

>Anti-malarial practices
>Imported bulk food to prevent shortages
>Modern apartments
