This can be used as a textbook example of how environments shape morality. When mainstream websites stop allowing something, that something will osmosis itself into immorality in the eyes of the people.
This is also why I never take online arguments seriously. Arguments can't change the minds of people. It's usually environments that change people's minds. We are humans and not logical machines.
