Because they're "alpha"?

I have been reading about the Golden State Killer and it's the same story with his first girlfriend. She grew up sheltered and describes being scared and exhausted by his bad boy behavior but you can tell she loved it and is trying to make herself look better after all these years. She even literally describes him as an alpha lol
