I'm a software dev. I actually programmed a machine learning neural network back in college, handrolled the back-propagation algorithm and everything. My opinion is that you can use AI to make art but art itself is inherently about human authorship. I guess you can say your prompt is the art part, but that's some shitty art if you ask me. Contrast with photography where the human is meticulously choosing the lens, lighting, and framing of the subject. I doubt most AI users are as meticulous with their prompts.

As an aside, the whole AI fad reminds me of the dotcom boom/bust. These ML models are a super useful tool with loads of applications but there's also a lot of bullshit hype trying to cash in on the zeitgeist.

Most of the H1-B Indians I encounter are cool dudes and great programmers; I play tennis with one guy. Here's what I find across all immigrants:
>thick, broken accent
Offshore labor for menial tasks but otherwise not reliable for intensive work. Still useful so long as you have one good guy over there who you can communicate with and delegate requests.
>no accent (came over as children or 2nd generation)
Professional bullshitters. Can talk managers into almost anything but don't have the hard skills to back it up.
>detectable but understandable accent
Actually really good at their jobs, usually postgrads or even doctorates who understand the subject matter at a very deep level. Great work ethic and minimum bs.

1) Everyone got negatively polarized by the bad faith actors on the other side to the extent that they became easy marks for the bad faith actors on their own side. In a vacuum, almost everyone recognizes that a non-standard protag can be done well and in fact add depth to a game. In practice, it's so easy to trigger someone with ragebait spin that no non-standard protag will ever meet the ever-goalpost shifting criteria of a "well done characterization".
2) The industry realized low brow action schlock primarily appeals to shiftless young men and not as much to other demos they were chasing. They tried like hell to get young women interested in action games and they just gravitated towards life/dating/farming sim games instead. And obviously the high brow, cultured audience just isn't that big to begin with. If you want your action game to sell, you have to pander to chuds.
