Is cute girls doing cute things anime, for some, just a masquerade to be indulgent in regard to a female character cuteness?

What's the reason for focusing on one specific aspect of the medium instead of watching the panoramic view that include, between others edges (plot, character development...), the cuteness of a female character; eg, Royal Space Fortress, Monster.
