Speaking of magazines, I was reading a Firearm News magazine volume from like 2019 at work and they had this interesting article about something called the Yangtze Patrol. Apparently the Allies sent horribly outdated Navy ships through the Yangtze in the early 1900s to safeguard Western colonies in China. It ended pretty depressingly - with the Navy ships being sunk, captured, or scrapped one by one until America decided to just pull out of China altogether. Some of the pictures were cool though. It’s wild looking at old photos and seeing all the young men in black and white. Wonder what other cool underrated operations went on that no one talks about
