GIGN adopted 7.62 Bren rifles like a decade ago citing better barrier penetration than 5.56. The AK platform is a little rough in terms of modularity like replacing parts and aftermarket. Some surplus mags just won't work, can't fit a folding stock on a fixed stock, limited optics mounting, etc. I like mine for fun though
