Dogs have very heightened sense an can apparently detect when Demons / Spirits are nearby and supposedly keep them at bay, so Demons hate them for that and want them dead so there's nothing in the way of them Possessing you or coming into contact with you in order to deceive you.

The "Angel" that would visit Muhammad told him once that he wasn't able to enter his house because Aisha kept a stray puppy under her bed or whatever, and since dogs are considered "filthy / unclean" , the "Angel" in all his splendor would not be able to enter a house that house such creature. Then asked Muhammad to get rid of it, along with any other dogs in the future, so as to better allow Demons to just take over the Muslim tribes he was commanding at the time.
