I'm currently playing the GC game with the Deluxe mod. New Horizons may have more items and cute villagers, but its focus on building and managing the entire island is too stressful for me. The first gen has a focus on living a quiet life in a small town (where all you need to do to get furniture you want is save bells or wait for a holiday, without needing to collect materials to build tools to collect more materials to build more things to collect materials to...) that is very relaxing, specially after wageslaving all day.
