I'm perpetually shocked that nobody on /pol/ despite having actually WATCHED the elections actually understands anything about American electoral politics and what issues are actually popular and not. Trump is splitting the issue exactly down the middle of where an intelligent politician would split it. "We don't want a land war in Iran but we are not going to let the Iranians enrich Uranium" is the most milquetoast and moderate opinion on this issue that it is POSSIBLE for an American politician to have.

He didn't just lose the midterms. This is the least damaging thing he could have done for his own chances.
