yeah, that happens in the Zeta movies when they try to CG enhance a live visual of a mobile suit they've never seen before and have no data on

there's also the idea that some MS are kinda similar to each other, e.g., it was not uncommon for some AEUG GM IIs to be painted in the exact colour scheme of the Nemo even though the GM II did have a distinct bright green and white colour of its own in AEUG service, might have confused some enemies into thinking they weren't the slightly inferior GM II rather than the mildly better Nemo
