I disagree, I think he's going to break out with Magatsumi. From there the plot can go in one of two directions, the first is him not immediately releasing Malediction on Japan and instead fleeing into the woods. The second direction would be him unleashing Malediction with it slowly spreading across the nation, Chihiro going forward would need to focus on becoming stronger, deepening his understanding of Enten, and assembling a team capable of stopping him before the entire nation is turned into a flower field. Sword Saint breaking out with Magatsumi doesn't need to immediately propel us into the endgame and you could write that being the case without doing any asspulls.
