You know, at this point it feels like I’m just screaming into the void but Ukraine didn’t launch a counteroffensive at all. What happened was they signed an agreement with Russia in April 2022, Russia would withdrawal their troops since Zelensky said he can’t negotiate with a gun to his head, and the second they did the Ukrainians tore up the agreement and declared they won’t sign any peace agreements ever. This is why Ukraine miraculously took vast tracts of land and hasn’t managed to take a single inch ever since. The most ridiculous part is Russia’s agreement didn’t even involve Ukraine ceding territory, they just had to uphold the shit they already agreed to in Minsk. Now that it’s clear Ukraine won’t negotiate, Russia has decided they’re just going to win via attrition, and based on the body exchange where Ukraine couldn’t even produce 100 Russian corpses but Russia had thousands of Ukrainians on ice ready to go? I’d say the attrition is going well.
