I'm just gonna drop one truth bomb. Hitler never went to church so he couldn't been devout. As early as 1920 Hitler saw himself as friendly towards "positives Germanisches Christentum"- and said it shouldn't try to interfere with Germanic morals.
Shortly after seizing power he decided he wouldn't pay taxes anymore. But he made it clear that this would include the church tithe which is super common and surprisingly easy even today in Germany.
Why would a "devout" christian do this?
