At this point you are also, to your own surprise, starting to doubt what you saw. You didn't sense any illusion magic there, and Ayane was pretty sure that there weren't many red chrysanthemums.

So what was all that about?

Maybe you needed a new perspective.

"Hey, wake up, flattie." With that idea in your mind, you take out the crystal with the small spirit in it and give it a shake.

"What!" She gives you a look that practically says 'this better be worth my time'.

You explain to her what was going on.

"It's probably nothing." Yumi scoffed. "Even though I didn't poke see anything with my eyes, the flowers were definitely white. I mean, who the heck uses red chrysanthemums in a funeral? That's just weird."

"Was there anything else that might've been of interest? Anything you noticed?"

"I could sense some spirits watching us... but that's normal for wakes and funerals."

"Maybe one of them was playing a prank?" You suggest.

"I mean, it's possible. But..."

"It would be a very strange prank if so." Ayane said. Yumi agreed, muttering about how a 'cursed servant' like her would've been more creative if she was haunting the place.

You considered the fact that you hadn't made any items to deal with ghosts. Yumi herself was at the point of being harmless to all of you, or so you hoped, yet you knew that there were items that allowed the capture and exorcism of spirits. As far as you knew there were also artifacts that protected against spirits possessing you, and certain enchantments that allowed you to physically touch ghosts.

But this subject just made you think of Herta, given that she could do an exorcism with ease. After you returned back to the inn you decided to seek out your first wife, just to check if you had any curses. You, however, didn't feel the metaphorical weight in your soul that curses caused.

Herta checks all of you for anything, and confirms that none of you were under any curses or hexes or corruption.

"There isn't anything saying weird on you, Master." The goddess says. "Though this was just a light check-up. Doing something more intensive would take half a day." You recall Herta talking about this sort of thing when Ryko was first saved from the goblin cave.

"Don't worry; as the Goddess of Artifice, I'll always be by your side!" Herta smiled.
