Ehh it's more like distracting one's self with video games to cope with the despair but that just perpetuates the despair. While a higher IQ typically equals higher awareness (meaning having the ability to self analyze and plan a way out of the despair) ultimately getting out of despair is an act of willpower. Once you do it, start taking the first steps at least, then video games become fun again and you also go outside and do other stuff.
