Not really. The series' plot is generally pretty easy to follow if you're playing in release order, at least until you hit KH3D and the plot debt and poor pacing begins to approach critical mass and implodes in KH3 thanks to development hell exacerbating the issue.

KH4 seems to be a sort of soft-reboot of sorts with a "new" villain, so it shouldn't be as bad going forwards.
