I'll throw my lot in for this. This is a World of Darkness character created partially as a joke in a dark-ages to modern nights elder-vampire campaign(now-defunct without finishing):
"Adam Lee"(Formerly Adamas)
An immortal sorcerer and former knight-of-acre(DA), Adam is now a listed extraordinary citizen for the paranormal affairs department of US homeland security. His 9-to-5 is essentially a properly licensed and funded version of a paranormal investigator, his job is to investigate and police paranormal sources of illegal activity.
His main reason for joining the force is to hunt down and destroy all copies of the "vivlio ton daimonon"(the book of spirits). The books of spirits are the world's foremost comprehensive body of knowledge on demonology and provides easily digestible guidance on the summoning, binding, and deal-making with demons. Each copy has the capability of allowing any random human to become a power-mad demigod capable of destroying millions of lives to feed their ever increasing hunger for power and souls. After destroying every copy in ccirculation he plans to track down and kill it's author, before finally hunting down and killing its author the worlds most powerful human infernalist. his Sister Nyctadora.
(obviously this never went anywhere as the game is now defunct. This partially because we underestimated the shit you can Do with infernal investments. By modern nights, nictodora's player was able to amass the powers of nearly any and every supernatural creature in the game, including their demi-god ancestors, without needing to become one)
