My crack theory is that the devs at youtube are also completely shocked at this bullshit and collectively sabotage the antiadblocking measures in any way they can, maybe also leaking the changelog to adblock providers too.
Any other company worth their dollars would have killed adblockers years ago, and google is a tech giant. This has to be a humanitarian inside job at this point
