The US is full of old settlements from the 1700s and 1800s. Usually they are surrounded by regions of farmland still farmed by the descendants of the farmers from back then. However the bigger the urban area the more it has been taken over by immigrants. A lot of urban areas are full of buildings from the 1800s when they were 100% white, but the current residents are 100% black, since white people have fled such areas decades ago.
