Death Toll in Kyiv Missile Strike Rises as Rescuers Search Rubble
The bodies of an additional five victims have been pulled from the rubble of a residential building destroyed by a Russian missile in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, officials have confirmed.
Timur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, announced the grim discovery as emergency crews continue a desperate search for survivors. The building was hit during a massive, nine-hour Russian air assault on the Ukrainian capital overnight, which involved at least 16 missiles and 175 drones.
The attack, one of the most intense of the war, has killed at least 15 people and injured nearly 100 across the city. Officials state that an entire section of the nine-story apartment block was obliterated in a direct hit by a cruise missile. Rescuers say more people may still be trapped under the debris.
