Taranushenko spent 44 years at the same school — first as a student, then as a teacher of literature.

In April 2022, the Kremlin ordered teachers to justify the invasion. She showed her class a video from Mariupol and refused to lie. 2/

She told the students: “It’s inevitable. A war of aggression returns to the land of the one who started it.”

Three girls recorded her. One of their fathers had been her pupil. Now he’s a Rosgvardia officer who fought in Ukraine. 3/

At first, police just questioned her. But in June 2024, they charged her with “spreading fake information.”
