Maybe, he's basically like Ryu, no personality other than being the virtuous stoic champ, but his design has a mullet and heavy metal arm bands so he's more original than the most generic karate man. Plus his powers are like magic fire as opposed to generic Kamehameha rip offs, so I kinda give him the edge

Plus movie Liu Kang is what actually made him cool, even if the games never properly adopted it like they did making game Kano just the superior movie Kano

As for Akuma, he can suck my dick. A cool design and inversion of the main character ruined by "actually, he's nice" bullshit and Capcom not letting him kill any main characters despite his whole gimmick being that he uses karate to kill (Bison is cooler and Psycho Power is cooler than Dark Hadou)

Liu Kang but really only because of the movie. In the games he's a pretty standard "meant to be the hero" guy but I liked his basic, but endearing character arc in the MK movie, going from angsty and vengeance filled to letting go of his brothers death. Robin Shou was a perfect casting, too bad that guy apparently was a huge diva so he never made it further in Holywood, definitely more charisma than say Jet Li.
