"Anyway- I just wanted to say that it'll be nice working with you! We're all really curious about your Digimon. You kinda showed up from nowhere, y'know?" Liza continues.
"Me too. We just need to be really careful. I'm more nervous about the network travel than the actual partition." You say.
"I'm sure it'll be fine. If Squid invented a method, I'm sure it'll be safe!"
"It's not that simple. And it might not be her method after all."
You don't want to intimidate them, but if they're going to be your squad, you want them to be aware of the danger. You make sure to explain what you saw in detail, describing the ghost and repeating what Doc told you. While Liza's face pales, Bella looks up in intrigue.
"Scary." She mumbles.
"Scary." Liza agrees.
"So just stay on your guard. Like Wind explained, if we stay on the path laid out for us, it should be stabilized by the ping that's being sent ahead. But if we wander off, or take too long, the channel gets more and more unstable. We have to spend as little time as possible in the network, or we might go DMIA too."
You don't tell them about the lifeline just yet.
"Okay. We'll just follow your lead on this! We've all done a couple of smaller tasks, but you seem to really know your stuff. How long have you been at it?"
"About a month. Bit more?"
"It felt like less." Says Phascomon from your wrist. You see him pressed up against the screen, trying to get a good look at Gazimon.
"A month?! Really? How'd your friend Digivolve so fast?"
"My Digivice probably had something to do with it. I guess I lucked into a higher quality one." You reply, not wanting to spill your secret. You chose not to tell Wind and Squid, you won't blab to these two random grunts.
"Oh, yeah. It used to be Takuda's, right?"
"That guy sucked." Says Bella.
"That's an understatement. Cazzo is dead and gone now, at least!"
"Podded. We don't know if he's dead." You add.
"No difference to me."
The three of you make small talk for a bit more. You've never really been a leader, so you don't know what to expect. At the very least, they seem willing to cooperate with you and acknowledge that you have the strongest Digimon, so working with them should be fine. You head back to your bedroom, thoughts of tomorrow's mission roiling in your mind.
