I would recommend trying to play anything with a pattern for a while, just to get used to holding the thing, but on top of that, I hope you pick out some nice picks! You gotta try playing before you can start playing. You dig?
Or of course, there's finger style, fingerpicking, and tapping , which won't necessarily require a pick. There are a lot of terms to pick up. Like, it takes a while for an electric guitarist to see that most things are done with the same couple of ideas in mind... hear me out-- there's 'Charlie Christian' pickups, P90s, humbuckers, Tele bridge and neck, strat single coils, wide range humbuckers, lace sensors, mini hums, firebird, jazzmaster, Mustang, jaguar, gold foils, duo-sonic, maybe even stretching it with how different some are, how similar others are. But like, aside from choice of wraps and amount of bobbins and polarity of magnets and whatnot, there's not much else we have. It's either nutty, or sad. Or maybe it's good.
