What a vn where you are John Solider fighting for a meritocratic evil empire and have fought the hero of the story many times and have somehow scraped together an escape where no one else did as you rise through the ranks purely because your the only guy who keeps surviving encounters against said hero who is nominally invulnerable to essentially anything. You start to lead entire armies around trying your best to hinder, not fight the hero as cities and regions flip sides to him, and eventually, the Emperor gets killed by said hero and you are the highest authority left and have to hole up in a city with the remains of a staunchly loyal army of soliders who you've been able to keep alive. You've skirmishes with the hero on countless times and he's started to recognize this fucking randomly guy who he keeps seeing and keeps running away from him. When he at long last is at the gates with his good guy army you offer your surrender terms, your army goes free and the people of the city are unharmed and they can take the city without bloodshed, but you demand a duel against this said hero who's killed so many of your friends and countrymen. This city you've held up in happens to have a holy garden with fruits that grant great power, but people who eat them usually just burn up and die, you have the force of will and enough spite to down one and maybe just maybe you can beat the hero. The duel happens and you have your own villainous breakdown berating the hero for what a fucking asshole hypocrite he is and are able to actually get one up on him and hurt him for the first time ever, and just as you are about to choke him out the gods intervene and don't allow this. They wanted their chosen hero to win and are quite frankly impressed that some random solide was almost able to kill their hero. This interruption is enough time to have your body start to break down from the fruits power, as you wail against the injustice, the hero looks dead inside.
