Jesus didn't die on the cross to pay a "debt of sin". That is jew think, and this crucial misunderstanding still lingers today and governs how Christianity is perceived and adhered to.

The physical form of Jesus went upon the cross (which is the cube unforled geometrically) to prove that nothing could assail him or change him as Son of God. He did it to prove that the world held no dominion over him. This is the message of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. That the world and its rules are illusions and that the Son of God can be threatened or harmed in no way. Not because of him being a mighty conqueror of the world, slaying the world, combating the world, but from the realization that the world holds no dominion over the truth of God.

One does not need to defend oneself against illusions, so Jesus didn't defend himself against the world. He also did not listen to the little human ego when he was out in the desert being threatened by the devil. The same realization and transcendence occurred in the East, through the Buddha.

This scene here is basically Jesus out in the desert conversing with the little human ego, which is the devil, the demiurge, who seeks to create instead of reality. In the stead of God.
