I kinda doubt it. Look at something that has cute anime girls, a popular at the time genre: Holocure: https://steamcharts.com/app/2420510 and it's even free. It blasted off strong, but essentially people quickly lost interest in just "yet another survivor game" and now it peters around 500 players a day. It would have been *something* but people putting the success/demise on the character design when concord had far bigger problems are delusional.

Uninteresting bland characters certainly didn't help, but they are not the reason it failed. It failed because it was a mediocre overwatch clone, coming out almost a decade after overwatch, while looking worse than overwatch & with no redeeming features or gameplay hooks at all.
Also: I want you to realize: woke =/= bland. They were bad designs, because they were generic and uninspired. Not because they were woke. For example: Baldurs gate devs & characters are woke, and they're good characters. Do yourself a favour and try to identify the issue beyond a superficial "they're woke and therefore bad". Because it is not actually their wokeness that is a problem it's their shitass "hit random in The Sims" design.
