I actually like this one better as far as Abe anime go even if it doesn't get nearly as much love. I never really thought about the Digital Circus parallels but they are definitely there with how it is about a group of amnesiacs trapped in a strange world with a mostly character driven structure that occasionally gets serious. Hell there is even a kind of reverse abstraction.
