Literally the only reason it got picked up was because Asahi made it. Scroll down to the bottom: Notice all those independent studios, those are the ones Netflix are looking into buying up
Otaku days are numbered. They're already purchasing these studios in small numbers and it'll only ramp up from here. There will come a point where there is no purpose producing anything that doesn't have a chance at being snapped up by Netflix. Why? Because this happened to Comic Books and Movies. The Streaming Slop directly killed the movie theaters because going anywhere except direct to streaming was a losing endeavor.

This is that on Steroids. Saban never had any interest in acquiring Toei nor did they want to be a Japanese company. The Israelite instead just wanted to cut and snip the parts away that were Japanese.
Netflix entering will be like if Toei stopped making anything past 1995 and just became a Sentai studio.
