Oh my absolutely, it is one of the ways that there is a 'normal'. We all put on various masks and dance in a masquerade, telling ourselves it must be as so, rather than accepting that we're all flawed, mad and silly in our own right as individuals; and that introspection of who exists beneath the mask, by others and selves is the greatest threat to life.
It makes sense in a mad world, which is silly when you think about it. Where did this concept of "We have to wear masks" come from? Who put it into place? Why does society demand it?
And what sort of society, and world is it where asking and pointing this out equates to madness in of itself?
Reminds me of the Emperor's New Clothes, and everyone just agreeing the robe was the most beautiful thing in the world, despite the Emperor being completely naked.
Yes, we understand why everyone thought that way, and knew internally the Emperor naked; but why was telling the Emperor that he was naked madness? Would you look to the child who said "The Emperor is naked!" and call them a madman for questioning it?
To put it smaller "No, wearing a mask is normal; but at what point to you just start accepting the truth of a mask over the truth of Reality around you, when you realize 'huh, something is fucky here, why are we doing this?'"
I can cope with this by calling it madness, and accepting that my perspective is madness in and of itself; which it never claimed not to be.
The question however, is that do you agree?
Is this madness? If so, why are you agreeing to this? If it is not madness, then why am I calling myself mad? If there's a part of you that glazes over the surface and says "madness" but there's even a little spark of you beneath the mask that is ignited, fired up, and says 'I understand, I know' then that was the point all along.
