Seeing that blue-on-gray outline of buildings that were downed yesterday-ish, definitely convinced me that there is more than just 'the mundane' to the world,

Having grown-up on TV and movies in the 1990's and 2000's (star wars, star trek, gargoyles, batman tas and superman tas, batman beyond, xena and hercules, charmed, and other various sorts of media, books, comic books, whatevers) painted a very very strange and exciting expectation, of what the world was supposed to be.

my general bitterness since then, is certainly related to the failure of that whispered promise. Society talked a very very big wind-up, and then promptly failed to deliver, or chose to Not deliver.

I see it as very much a cosmic-scale dead-baby joke, that the same event which (for me, anyway) confirmed that there is reality beyond the mundane, is also the same event which locked the world into a closed-system, and that time since then (2001-2020 and continuing) is only the slow realization of how truly fucked we all are.
