I don't know about rude but polite isn't a word I'd use to describe the people here. No one's gonna hold the door for you here or simply smile at you, put it that way.

I can't find too much information. As far as crimes go it's not too bad so sentences seem to be 1-3 years. Sometimes a suspended sentence (i.e., nothing unless you get another conviction later) or community service.
That's in the US, you get much harsher sentences in Asia.
