The Broncos have spent a significant portion of their offseason assets bolstering one of the NFL’s best Ds from a year ago
The Chiefs defense allowed the 9th most 20+ yard completions and the 5th most 40+ yard completions in the NFL…With Kristian Fulton on PUP and Justin Reid in New Orleans the Chiefs defense needs as much practice on the deep ball as the offense does. With the departure of Justin Reid this offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs knew they had to bring in a leader for the young players who make up the safeties room. It must have been especially painful for them to see one of the top safeties in the league, Justin Reid, leave in free agency to join the Saints. However, the Chiefs can't look in the past. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach knew that Reid's leadership would be hard to replace, but when he saw one name floating around in free agency who had veteran leadership experience, he had to get the deal done. The Chiefs signed veteran safety Mike Edwards
Chargers - The D slumped down the stretch last season and the team did not invest much into defense this offseason ....and now Denzel Perryman got arrested for felony gun chargers, They lost Joey Bosa and Poona Ford and are banking a little too heavily on 34-year-old Khalil Mack, especially with the lack of depth around him. They didn't upgrade either outside CB spot (both good vs the run but not good in coverage)
Raiders - just got fleeced by Howie Roseman, making another move to further weaken their bad defense
