All 3 games have "localization" fuck ups but one example I can give is the way they handled Marina's characterization in Splatoon 2. Pearl (the character on the left) is Marina's senpai and while doing their in-game news segment Marina will praise Pearl while smiling and being happy. But in the western releases of Splatoon 2, Marina will make snarky remarks and insults her often. People noticed how odd it is and implemented a hot fix. But the thing is that they only toned down the dialogue instead of fixing the dialogue and added some throwaway lines in the Octo Expansion DLC to justify the bullshit saying it was all an act.
