It pissed me off how the show tried to have it both ways. In the first season, the soldiers were like "This is a free and fair democracy. We will not impede the democratic process, and the majority of people will willingly vote to continue the games, which shows human greed because they value money over human lives". Then in the later seasons the soldiers were openly interfering in the elections, preventing people from arguing their case in front of everyone, handcuffing Gi-Hun so he couldn't vote, and arbitrarily adding the baby to the game. This inconsistency undermined the theme of human greed.
