Wishing to distract yourself from your newfound shitty mood, you seek out one of your companions to speak with. You settle on the summoner, Cassius. He was sitting off to the side, reading from a familiar book you’d seen in his hands before, entitled “A Recollection of the Great Unification War of Fodlan.” You walk up to the man, and the Fodlan fanatic puts his tome to the side in order to greet you warmly.
>“Still haven’t finished that book?”
“Unfortunately not.” Cassius says. “I find little time for reading in your presence. It seems every day something new and exciting is happening.”
>“I don’t know why you waste your time stuck in that book. You have a real genuine Fodlander in your presence. If there’s anything you wish to know about back home, you’d be better off asking me than perusing through that dusty old thing.”
“Oh, I’ve already learned much about Fodlan from being in the presence of yourself and Adeline.” Cassius smiles. “This entire journey has been most illuminating for me. And to think there’s so much more ahead of us.” As the summoner begins reflecting on the journey still to come, you note that his smile slowly fades. “Though, now that I think about it, I fear that this relationship may perhaps be a bit too one sided.”
>“What do you mean?”
“As I said, I’ve learned much about Fodlan. More than ever would have been possible had I not accompanied you on this journey. And yet, I feel as though I have not been adequately able to share with you the culture and history of Morfis. You may very well soon be the King of this country, ruling over a population that numbers in the millions. And yet, save for the information that was in that children’s book, I suspect you may not know the first thing about our storied land.”
>“What? That’s preposterous. Of course I do!” You lie. In truth, you actually knew less about Morfis that you cared to admit. It wasn’t your fault. Until recently, this had been an isolationist nation for thousands of years. Information on Morfis was scarce in Fodlan. You’d also only been here for three months, and most of that time was spent avoiding death. There was hardly any time for an impromptu history lesson. You figured Bronte could likely fill you in on the details at some point.
“Right.” Cassius says dryly. Rather than calling you out on your fib, he chooses to play along. “In any event, I would like to extend to you the same offer you’ve made me. If there are any questions at all that weigh on your mind about this country, you can ask me. It can be anything you like. For example, did you know the favored dish in Morfis is lamb? And that our country’s favorite animal is the desert owl?”
>“How fascinating. Is there anything else you can tell me? Preferably something of particular importance that I should note, and not just trivial tidbits?”
