You quickly step between the pointed lasers and the increasingly upset elder in the power armor.
[Let’s all stay calm here. My good friend Moreno may be wearing the armor of the Enclave, I was just as shocked as anyone when I first saw it. But there’s a very good reason…]
You rack your brain for any excuse.
Valens: Granite Company?
The Brotherhood flight leader parts the crowd and stands with her hands on her hip.
But it’s not you who responds.
Moreno: Yes, and proud of it. We’ve been doing work with the Courier. I don’t think that’ll be an issue from one tin can to another.
Valens looks lost in thought before pulling her lips into a thin line.
Valens: Is this true, Courier? Do you have a former Granite Mercenary Company member in your employ?
You don’t know what the Granite Company is but in for a penny…
[Yes, I lucked out and managed to contract a small group. Unfortunately, they hold some antiquated beliefs but they’re good people. Right, Moreno?]
Thankfully, the salty heavy weapons handler doesn’t poke the bear. Or the Brotherhood, rather.
Valens: Acceptable. We’re getting ready to roll out, look over your gear and hop on. We’re leaving in 10.
An imperceptible sigh leaves your chest and you tilt your head slightly at Moreno. He could have pressed the issue but thankfully he has some common sense.
The Legion shock troops have been milling around in their own group. When the signal to board comes, they quickly begin filling in the Vertibirds that are lingering on the flat greens overlooking Lake Mead.
Marius gives you a thumbs up before climbing in a Vertibird himself. The Legion troopers look closer to a spec-ops NCR unit than what you’ve seen from a standard Caesar trooper.
They’re each loaded down in ammunition, knives and explosives, carrying both a short sword and powerful rifles ranging from brush rifles to .45 sub machine guns. Explosives and grenades weigh down their combat rigs and a few of the shock troopers even carry night vision goggles. If the Legion rejects advanced combat technology, that may not apply to Marius’ men.
Better for you. Grabbing the rung on the vertibirds canopy, you pull yourself in and prepare for the short flight North.
