the cement situation is as old as the house. the guy only installed the wooden frame, the mesh screen and casing. he had a ladder (i was holding it down for him). i was actually appreciative of how easy he made it all look, so animated and chipper for his age. it's a majority muslim country and the guy was catholic, therefore i was trying to be sensitive, withholding my comments and so forth, so he wouldn't be offended by my usual fix-it attitude.

i painted using a can of rust oleum, the sanding and putty i had before from a previous home project (patching a hole in the fucking ceiling).
