not to say regional forms can't exist, but I honestly can't think of much else that fits pokemon better than using the power of friendship to make your pokemon go even further beyond
maybe they thought that was brushing too close up against digimon for their taste, but shit like gholdengo and tinkiton are way closer to that line in my opinion
