When I was about level 50 and I read Vol.3.
I was raised on a Christian home and my parents (and extended famility) often volunteered in many ways to help the poor people of the community.
Some of my extended family even went to Haiti and Africa to be missionaries.
Keep in mind that we were also poor as fuck, and giving food and clothes to other people meant that sometimes we also didn't had for ourselves.
Anyway, my and my other 3 brothers often complained about the lack of food, new clothes and toys, then my parents unironically said to us:
>"Vanitas vanitatum, et omnia vanitas"
>"All is vanity, don't wish for new things, earthly life is ultimately empty"
They would insist with that motto everytime we asked for new stuff.
It really shocked me when SaoSao and Azoo started to use that phrase in Vol.3.
And btw, I don't hate my parents, even with the limitations me and my brothers managed to have normal lives in the end.
One of my brothers for a while went hardcore into Buddhism because he took the "everything is vain, everything is an illusion" really seriously but eventually returned to Christianity.
