Russian Artillery Strike on Nikopol Kills One, Injures Five

A Russian artillery and drone attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Nikopol on Wednesday morning killed one woman and wounded five other people, according to Ukrainian officials.
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, reported that the shelling struck the city center. A woman was killed in the attack. Five others were wounded, including two women, aged 78 and 69, who were rescued by emergency services and hospitalized. The 78-year-old is in serious condition, while the 69-year-old is in a moderately serious condition. The other three injured individuals are being treated as outpatients.
The morning bombardment damaged civilian infrastructure, including a bank, shops, a pharmacy, a hair salon, a sports club, and several apartment buildings. Russian forces, which have regularly shelled Nikopol since the start of the full-scale invasion, reportedly used both heavy artillery and kamikaze drones in the attack. The city lies on the bank of the now-drained Kakhovka reservoir, across from the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
