I get the ego trip on the real stuff, I was alot like you, but you should reconsider your views on God. I'm not selling you on a religion. Just be honest with yourself and take some time to pray/ask the real omnipotent God of creation to reveal the truth to you. It might take a while, over a decade for me, and you might not like it outright but he won't leave you hanging forever if you really mean it.
