Cybernewtypes are almost always a huge deal in any Gundam story they show up in, which is probably why, combined with the unique design and weird personality, people expected more out of Deux. Looking at Unicorn, Banagher (ambiguous in anime, confirmed in novel), Full Frontal, and Marida were all cybernewtypes, for instance.
