One of the best scenes was in Shattered Samsara. Kiana had always been too self-sacrificial for her own good, always trying to hide her pain under a smile and shoulder every burden by herself. This ended up having real consequences as she was dying from it and Mei went with World Serpent because they were the only ones offering a solution. We get real consequences to what is both a virtue and a fatal flaw. Realizing the effect this has on others was a pivotal growth for her. Then Kiana sees Hua trying to sacrifice herself to seal Senti away but after many other sacrifices and lost friends, Kiana chooses to reject her choice and refuses to that sacrifice is the only way to victory and stops Hua's seal. Kiana and Hua both had story moments focusing on their desire to sacrifice themselves, the story adds complexity to this by using Hua's self-sacrifice as a learning opportunity and direct reflection of Kiana's previous attitude, meaning that both characters stories tie in and influence each other, adding more complexity.
