I doubt it. It's more likely the case that the current state of affairs is a full blown Promethean rebellion against heaven. Like all things, a denial of a reality is a denial of the divine, and to deny reality is to open oneself up to terrible consequences. To embrace the true form of idolatry, which is of one God, you set yourself up for disaster. Satan is the one who whispers lies, that somehow you can deny what is naturally ordered. You cannot.
