Game Boy/Color/Advance was the golden era. After that phones just became the easiest provider of on-the-go entertainment. I still liked the DS and PSP because a DS with a flashcart and a modded PSP were simply great devices, but for short trips I didn't find myself packing a handheld with me anymore.
