Occult/nordic paganism/mysticism AQ

My nephew is starting it's spiritual path, and he's a bit lost on what path should he take, should he follow the occultism/hermeticism path or walk the mystic path?
He is very attracted to nordic paganism, particularly Loki, and seems to want to take the trickster god as his godhead on occultism, but also is very interested on the path of the yogis and mystics of the world, without any structured pathway.
