Yeah, so basically they aren't interested in how complex events surrounding WWI led to "Ukrainian independence" (which itself is only in 1991 if defined very arbitrarily) and most people who bring up the fact this ever happened are not interested in the very intricate details surrounding it, for example the fact that the Ukraine was already officially an independent country which was bound to Russia by a voluntary treaty, and in 1991 Russia canceled it because the Ukraine was a money pit.
