Every once in awhile I don't mind them. I think a problem all the old school ones tend to have is not limiting MP/Mana/SP etc regeneration therefore you can spam strongest shit turn 1 and move on. So its just using whatever kills all the enemies in one turn, get to a save point and Tent or whatever and keep going and use Ethers/whatever restoration items the game has when needed.

Pic related. Either of my mages would just blast enemies and end the battle in less than 30 seconds, later on Ryudo gets Sky Dragon Slash which was the same tier of "wipe any minor enemy out". Honestly the final stretch of bosses were the same. Just spam the All Enemies magic, Sky Dragon Slash, and sometimes Alhealer for a full party heal.
